Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

At the end of this course students should be able to: - interpret the causes and economic impacts of environmental degradation - assess the main differences between regulatory and economic instruments, and the advantages and disadvantages of each, - outline alternative methods for valuing non-market environmental goods and environmental damage, - critically evaluate the relationship between economic development and environmental quality, - outline the new economic approach of Ecological Economics.

Summary

To acquaint students with the development of environmental thinking and forming environmental economics. Develop knowledge of the principles and methods optimization of the basic functions of the environment with a focus on methods of decision making and valuation of environmental goods and optimal use of natural resources. Deepen poznatkyo environmental aspects concept of sustainable development and its measurement, factors and trends that affect the real development of environmental degradation.
