Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
To acquaint students with the methods of data collection and basic information resources data for the regions will also be attention paid to the analysis of those data using basic statistical methods and presentation results. The course is practically oriented and the emphasis on working with real data. Students during the semester, develop a case study for a specified region which will be presented separately at the end. The teaching will be working in program MS-Excel and SPSS.

Summary
Cílem předmětu je seznámit studenty s metodami sběru dat a se základními
informačními zdroji dat za regiony Dále bude pozornost věnována analýze výše
uvedených dat pomocí základních statistických metod a následné prezentaci
výsledků. Předmět je orientován prakticky a klade důraz na práci s reálnými
daty. Studenti během semestru vypracují případovou studii pro zadaný region,
kterou budou na závěr samostatně prezentovat. Při výuce se bude pracovat v
programovém prostředí MS-Excel a SPSS

Subject syllabus:
1 Quantitative Methods in regional science. Methods of data collection.
2 Overview of information sources of data (regional, national accounts) and the regional structure descriptors (RHDP, etc.).
3 Basic classifications and nomenclatures and international standards (NACE, ISCO, NUTS)
4 Basics of working with regional descriptors (statistical and graphic description)
5 Creating Graphs
6 Analysis of the relationship between descriptors of regions 1 (correlation analysis)
7 Analysis of the relationship between descriptors of two regions (regression analysis)
8 Development of Regions 1 (time series analysis), decomposition time series
9 Development of Regions 2 (estimates of trend functions)
10 Methods of prediction descriptors
11 Analysis of data from the survey.
12 Creation of PowerPoint presentation
13 Results presentation
