Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Students will be acquainted with demography not only as a scientific but also a practical one. Using his basic analytical procedures to use selected demosocial indicators, students will seek answers to the current key issues of demographic science. The most recent include explaining significant regional differences in natural currency, migration behavior, and the aging process. The concrete results of analyzes of selected phenomena will serve to gain a more realistic idea of the degree of demographic development of the Czech Republic.

Summary
1. Basics of demographic science. The history of shaping the scientific background of human population.
2. Method of measuring demographic events and processes. Sources and quality of demographic data, their basic classification. The issue of defining demographic events. The importance of spatial units in the evaluation of demographic behavior.
3. Techniques and methods for quantitative data collection, sorting and evaluation. Activity and structure of the Statistical Office and other population data managers. Work with electronic data sources, use of computer technology.
4. Population size analysis and evaluation in relation to the natural population currency. Theoretical and practical knowledge of the fertility process (division, development, factors, applications). Global and regional differences.
5. Analysis and evaluation of population size in relation to migration behavior of the population. Theoretical and practical knowledge of spatial movement of human population (structure, development, reasons, impacts and applications). Global and regional differences.
