Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Students will be able to:
- describe the legal environment, define the subject of the regulation, characterize the legal regulation and list the basic forms
regulation,
- understand the principles of public and private law and explain the difference between them
- Use acquired knowledge and understanding to clarify and solve model situations
- recognize the problem in practice and infer appropriate legal regulation
- explain the legal aspect of the problem in practice
- explain the legislation and recommend possible solutions to the problem in practice.

Summary
This subject determines the frame of legal regulation of social use and protection of intellectual property. The aim is to acquaint the students with deeper knowledge of legal norms regarding intellectual property and private data protection. It further considers copyright and industrial copyright´s regulation in the Czech Republic and abroad. Also in practical connection legal regulation of advertising as for public and private level is dealt as well as advertising self-regulation.

Subject syllabus:
1. Introduction, system of this subject and context in the Czech law. Sources and the subjects of intellectual property law. State position and state administration in this field. Protection of personal data, natural person and legal person. Trade company and its protection. Protection of trade secred and know-how.
2. Copyright I. - Author´s work - term, marks, types, exclusions. Author and author´s work creation. Content of copyright. Exclusive personality rights. Exclusive property rights.
3. Copyright II. Author´s work usage. Free usage. Legal licence. Duration of property law. Free works.
4. Copyright III. Licence contract. Exclusive and non-exklusive licence.
Publishing licence. Sub-licence and its transfer. Special types of author´s work and special conditions of its usage.
5. Copyright IV. Rights connected to copyright. Rights to art performance. Rights to recordings. Rights to radio and TV broadcasting. Publisher´s right. Special rights to database.
6. Copyright V. Protection of copyrights and rights connected to it. Customs in connections with rights protection. Collective administration of rights. State supervision.
7. Trademark I. Term. Register. legal capacity to be recorded in the register. types of trademarks. Trademark owner.
