Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
1. To describe and explain non-economic integration activities of the EC/EU,
2. To identify the main milestones of integration process deepening,
3. To discuss economic and non-economic integration effects in the EC/EU,
4. To recognise bottlenecks and discordant issues of the EU integration process,
5. To evaluate regulation requirements on the supranational level.

Summary
The course deals with the European integration process. The focus is given to
the deepening of the European integration and enlargement of the European Union. Both processes are supplemented with the Czech Republic issues.

Subject syllabus:
1.Introduction to the course - the objectives, syllabus, literature.
2.EU in overcoming the consequences of the economic crisis. Comparison with the economies of the U.S.A. and other global players.
3.Treaty on stability, coordination and governance in the economic and monetary union. The establishment of the banking and fiscal union.
4.Foreign and security cooperation EC countries. Western Union.
5.Evropean Security and Defence Policy. Defense dimension - EU-NATO cooperation.
6.Evropean Union and its enlargement to the East and Southeast Europe.
7.Neighborhood policy of the European Union. The Union for the Mediterranean. EU's Eastern Partnership.
8.EU-U.S.A. relations, EU-Russia relations.
9.Development Policy.
10.Freedom, security and justice area. The fight against terrorism.
11.cooperation of interior affairs and justice, police cooperation. The Schengen area.
12.Social policy of the European Union. Its development and current challenges with a focus on the fight against unemployment. The European Social Agenda.
13.Actual trends in the EU integration process and models of the future development of European integration.
14.Discussion on current topics.
