Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

1. To analyse the concepts of national and regional competitiveness of EU member states in a global world. 2. To classify the theoretical outcomes of territorial competitiveness. 3. To evaluate factors which determine the competitiveness especially innovation, clusters and knowledge. 4. To recommend concrete measures of EU policies for the competitiveness growth in accordance with Lisbon process. 5. To classify innovation and systems of innovation in the development of economies in EU. 6. Understand the role of knowledge economy and information society in economic development.

Summary

The aim of the course is to present to students the nowadays ideas on the competitiveness of the EU and its member states in the global economy. Theoretical competitiveness background is presented, competitiveness factors are defined and EU measures dealing with the EU Strategy 2020 are covered.
