Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

1. Basic knowledge of selected global issues and globalization processes. 2. Comprehension of mutual global interconnectedness of the world. 3. Application of the knowledge on current international events and development trends.

Teaching methods

Summary

This course introduces students to selected global problems – global inequality, HIV/AIDS epidemic, humanitarian intervention, global warming, trafficking in children, population development issues. There is an interdisciplinary approach to the explored issues with the purpose to cover broader context of the globalization process. The course demonstrate global dimensions of the contemporary society development by exploring selected global issues.

Osnova přednášek: 1. Úvod k problematice globalizace a globálních problémů 2. Globální polarizace světa 3. Epidemie HIV/AIDS a její sociální, ekonomické a demografické důsledky 4. Globální oteplování a klimatická změna 5. Práva dětí a sociálně-ekonomický rozvoj 6. Globální bezpečnost a humanitární intervence OSN 7. Aktuální problém Osnova cvičení: 1. Úvodní cvičení 2. Bludný kruh chudoby 3. Důsledky epidemie HIV/AIDS pro chudé rozvojové země 4. Globální oteplování z pohledu jednotlivých regionů 5. Dětská práce a opatření na její odstranění 6. Lidská práva a krizové regiony 7. Ukončení, udílení zápočtu.
