1. To obtain cognisance of basic ethical concepts. 2. To comprehend wider ethical aspects of selected issues and development trends of current society. 3. To apply the ethical view on specific cases.

Teaching methods

Summary

The course addresses the selected global issues, which have got strong ethical dimensions. The issues are explored from the view of ethical dilemmas associatedwith them. Special emphasis is laid on the current ethical dilemmas, which the global society faces up – for example biotechnology, different ethical approaches to nature protection, social differentiation of the world.

Subject syllabus:

1. Úvod do problematiky globalizace a etiky, vymezení základních globálních problémů s výraznou etickou dimenzí. 2. Bioetika - etické otázky spojené s počátkem života (regulace porodnosti). 3. Bioetika - etické otázky spojené s koncem života (eutanázie). 4. Bioetika - etické otázky spojené s rozvojem genetiky. 5. Ekoetika - vybrané hodnotové přístupy k životnímu prostředí. 6. Ekoetika - práva zvířat. 7. Různé přístupy ke světu, k pojetí člověka a jejich střetávání v globální společnosti, aktuální problém. Cvičení: 1. Úvodní cvičení. Zadání seminárních prací. 2. Případová studie: regulace populace v rozvojových regionech. 3. Případová studie: etické aspekty rozdělování omezených zdrojů ve zdravotnictví. 4. Případová studie: lidská práva a genetika. 5. Případová studie: spravedlnost ve světě prohlubující se sociální diferenciace. 6. Případová studie: práva zvířat. 7. Závěr.
