Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

1. To compile data about development of the basic macroeconomic indicators of selected EU countries and other countries like the USA, Japan, China, Russia. 2.To categorise a political system in individual countries. 3. To formulate a main direction of the economic policy in the individual countries. 4. To summarise the actual economic problems in the world. 5. To assess the efficiency of the economic policy in these countries. 6. To evaluate the actual reform measures. 7. To compare the economic development of the EU with third countries. 8. To predict the economic situation in the world on the international data base.

Summary

The subject reflect on the economic policy of selected EU countries (Germany, France, Great Britain) and others non-member countries of the European Union, like the USA, Japan, Russia and China, etc. The attention will be focus on main authors of economic policy, their instruments and objectives aimed at the process of economic reforms in chosen countries. The object of the subject is to show the position of the EU in the world economy in comparison with selected countries.

Lectures: 1. Introduction to the course. The world economic development and the regulations of economies on the national and international levels. 2. Economic policy - theoretical discipline. The main landmarks in the development of practical economic policy. The specificity of the EU economic policy. 3. The characterization of the main types of economic policy. 4. The specification of the EU´s economic policy and its instruments. 5. Economic development and economic policy in Germany. 6. Economic development and economic policy in Great Britain. 7. Economic development and economic policy in France. 8. Economic development and economic policy in Scandinavian countries. 9. Economic development and economic policy in the USA. 10. Economic development and economic policy in Japan. 11. Economic development and economic policy in Russia. 12. Economic development and economic policy in China. 13. The comparison of the strong and weak sites of the selected economies. 14. Acctual issue in world economy. Conclusion. Seminars: 1. Introduction into the course. 2. Discussion about the economic reforms in Germany and Great Britain. 3. Discussion about the economic reforms in Scandinavian countries and France. 4. Discussion about the economic reforms in the USA and Japan. 5. Discussion about the economic reforms in Russia and China.
