Upon successful completion of this course, students will be familiar with the specifics of international business, they will be able to analyze the international business environment and to identify the decisive factors and trends in the international context, including the support of companies in the international context.

Summary

The subject provides students with theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills in the field of international business. It illuminates business issues in international markets. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be familiar with the specifics of international business, they will be able to analyze the international business environment and to identify the decisive factors and trends in the international context, including the support of companies in the international context.

Subject syllabus:

1. Introduction to international business. 2. Business in international markets, nature, specifics and risks. Globalization Trends in the World Economy and Entrepreneurship in International Markets. The environment in international business (economic, political, legal, technological, social and cultural). 3. Entrepreneurial activities and their internationalization. Theoretical Approaches to the Internationalization of Business Activities (Internalisation Theory, International Product Life Theory, Step Approaches, Network Approach, etc.). 4. The theory of international business. 5. Entities carrying out international business activities and their categorization. Measurement of the degree of internationalization of business entities. 6. Multinational enterprises, their creation and development. Forms of organization of multinational enterprises. Multinational companies in the European Union and the Czech Republic. 7. Small and medium-sized enterprises and their specifics in international business. Support for SMEs from national and international sources. Support of international activities of small and medium-sized companies. 8. Management of international business activities. Decisions on the internationalization of business activities (entry, localization of entrepreneurial activities, method of entry). 9. Factors determining the internationalization of business activities. Factors of the external environment (the environment of the national state, the environment of the world economy). Internal environment factors. 10. International business through the pricing of financial aspects (sources of international business financing, financial management in international business). International finance (financial system, exchange rates, FDI). 11. International Business and the European Union. The internal market of the European Union and the so-called fundamental economic freedoms. EU policies and activities supporting the development of the business environment. 12. International Entrepreneurship in the Field of Competition Protection. Public enterprise support in the internal market. 13. Business in the Czech Republic and its support in an international context. Support of entrepreneurship and pro-export policy in the Czech Republic and its inclusion in international systems. Institutional support of business entities in the Czech Republic (MIT, EGAP, CzechInvest, CzechTrade, Czech Export Bank, ČMZRB, etc.). 14. Current Issues of International Business.
