Summary

The course deals with integration processes in the world economy. The regional economic integration is being concerned in the main world regions - Europe, America, Africa and Asia. Relations with the European Union are tackled. Having the knowledge of the course the student should understand the European integration in the world context.

1.Basis for Regional Integration in the World Economy. Specific Features of European Regional Integration. 2.West European Integration (Benelux, EEC, EFTA, EU, EEA). Middle Europe in Integration Process (COMECON, European Agreements, CEFTA). 3.East Europe and Integration Processes (CIS). EU Development Trends and Pan European Integration. 4.Specific Features of American Integration. Pan American Integration (FTAA). North American Integration (NAFTA). Latin American Integration (MERCOSUR, ANCOM, Central America and Caribbean). 5.Asian Region and Integration Tendencies (ASEAN, GCC, SAARC). Specific Features of African Integration. 6.Intercontinental Integration (APEC, IOR). External Relations of the EU and its Relationship with Other Integration Groupings in the World Economy.Role of International Organizations.
