Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
1. To analyse the concepts of national and regional competitiveness of EU member states in a global world.
2. To classify the theoretical outcomes of territorial competitiveness.
3. To evaluate factors which determine the competitiveness especially innovation, clusters and knowledge.
4. To recommend concrete measures of EU policies for the competitiveness growth in accordance with Lisbon process.
5. To classify innovation and systems of innovation in the development of economies in EU.
6. To Understand the role of knowledge economy and information society in economic development.
Teaching methods
Summary
The explanation of national and regional competitiveness of EU memeber states.
Theoretical background of territorial competitiveness, its determinants and
driving forces. Assessment of national competitiveness by WEF, IMD and other
institutions. Innovation capacity, Innovation systems and regional clusters in
economic development. Knowledge-based society and eEurope initiatives. Lisbon
process in EU and Annual competitiveness reports. Strategies and policies for
raising country and regional competitiveness.
