1.To classify the stages of the international economic integration. 2.To identify the crucial integration tendencies in Europe. 3.To describe the development and the present situation of European integration processes (EU). 4.To apply the knowledge for the interpretation of the present situation in the EU.

Summary

The aim of the subject is to introduce students to history and current development of the integration process in Europe, especially to the conception, form and objective of the integration in the European Union. Students should also understand the aspects of the enlargement process with alignment to entry of the Czech Republic to the EU.

Subject syllabus:

1. The concept of the Western European integration process as a key form of implementation of international economic integration. Integration methods and their application in European integration. 2.Development of European integration in terms of individual degrees of international economic integration. Themes of European integration. 3.Paradigmata of the European Integration Process, the historical stages of the development of the integration process in Western Europe after 1945 to the present. 4.General of the European Union, Integration Concept. European Union law - basic characteristics, development, current status. 5.Institutions and bodies of the European Union - structure, functions, principles, decision-making processes. 6.Community budget - annual budgets, multiannual financial framework. The project and the gradual implementation of the EU single internal market (JVT). 7.The internal market of the European Union - the free movement of goods, services, capital and labor. Basic principles of protection of competition in the internal market. 8.Characteristics and current developments of the key common economic policies of the European Union - agricultural policy, trade, transport, fisheries, monetary. 9.Competence of the EU in selected areas of coordinated economic policies - economic and social cohesion, energy policy, industrial policy, environmental protection. 10. The outlook, development and current status of Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). Organization and capital provision of economic and monetary union, monetary policy of the European Central Bank. 11.Cooperation in the Union's foreign and security policy. EU internal security - police cooperation and justice. 12. Political, economic and institutional issues related to the enlargement process of the European Union. Candidate countries, potential candidate countries. 13.The Czech Republic as a Member State of the European Union. Accession process, current situation, positive and negative aspects of our membership in the Union. 14. Possible scenarios of the future development of integration in the EU. Problems of the EU's transition to political integration.
