1. To describe the development and the state of the art of EU regional policy, its mechanisms and tools. 2. To explain the methodology and options of the use of EU strustural funds and other instruments in the regional development and their application under the condition of the Czech Republic. 3. To apply the knowledge gained for the solution of issues of EU social and economic cohesion.

Anotace

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the development of a basic set-up of EU Regional Policy and selected EU Member States. Students will be acquainted with the functioning of the mechanisms and instruments of EU Regional policy, the methodology and the use of EU Structural and Investment Funds and other instruments in regional development and their application in the Czech Republic and will be ready to solve problems within the issues of socio-economic cohesion of the European Union in the batechelor's degree level.

The students will organise the team of 2 – 3 students for each selected topic and prepare • An essay to the topic up to 20 – 25 pages • A Power Point presentation up to 8 – 10 slides which will be presented in a seminar followed by discussion of participants. Submission of an essay and presentation in a seminar are conditions and entry cards for examinations. It is recommended to use internet information sources for essay and presentation preparation. Structural Funds in EU regional Policy • Interreg III in a specific EU Member country • Urban II in a specific EU Member country • Equal in a specific EU Member country • Leader + in a specific EU Member country Summary on initiative in a concrete country and description (case study) of selected project. 3. Regional Programming in EU • Description and presentation of a structure of concrete programming documents in a selected EU member country and analysis of one document.
