Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
1. To describe the fundamentals of project management.
2. To describe the phases of project management.
3. To characterize the application of project management in the development of firms and regions.
4. To explain the development and contents of key documents for project implementation.

Summary
The subject is devoted to the application of knowledge acquired in the subject of European regional policy and deepening of knowledge about principles and methods of project and subsidy management in the conditions of the Czech Republic and the EU. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the application of project management in the development of regions, towns and municipalities, preparation and content of basic documents for the preparation and implementation of projects co-financed from national sources as well as from the EU Funds. Students will get a basic overview of the requirements for the preparation and creation of the application for support for projects co-financed from national and European sources.

Subject syllabus:
1. Basic project management terminology - project management and change management, projects, and operations, project classification, portfolio of projects, projects as a system, project management knowledge strain (PMBOK).
2. Life cycle of the project - phase of the project life cycle, typology of project management processes, PDCA cycle.
3. Funding sources of project financing in the European Union - overview of grant sources/titles for financing projects from the EU Funds.
4. Grant sources of project financing in the Czech Republic - Overview of grant sources/titles for financing projects from public sources of the Czech Republic at the level of municipalities, towns, regions and state.
5. Grant life cycle and project path co-financed from the European Structural and Investment Funds - subsidy cycle from state administration perspective, subsidy cycle from applicant's point of view, project preparation and realization.
6. Project cycle management and project logic framework method - PCM method, logical framework of the project - analysis
and plan, matrix of the logical framework of the project, project intervention logic, and project evaluation.
7. Financial management of projects in EU and CR conditions - general criteria for projects financed from national and European sources, project budget, eligibility of expenditure, management of project changes, and project risk management.
8. People and organizations in project management - organizational groupings in a project, organization in project management, project team, project manager.
9. Initialization of the project - initialization (initiation) of the project, main documents of the initialization phase, project selection, basic project document, project specification.
10. Project Planning - Project Planning Processes, Work Structure Structure (WBS), Organization Structure of the Project (OBS), Ratio Matrix (RAM), Project Timetable, Planning Resources in the Project.
11. Implementation of the project - the start of the project implementation, management and communication in the project, procurement in the project, operational instructions and principles, project implementation control, quality management, project documentation, and closure of the project.
12. Project control - control processes in the project, types of controls, and control of public contracts.
13. Preparation of an application for support for projects co-financed by the EU Funds - Practical procedure for the preparation of the aid application - Case study.
14. Preparation of the application for support for projects co-financed from local, regional, and national sources of the Czech Republic - practical procedure for preparation of the application for support - case study.
