Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
1.To distinguish the basic diffrences between the world and the national economy.
2.To describe the major trends in the world economy evolution.
3.To identify the main global problems in the present world economy.
4.To apply the acquired knowledge for the characteristics of the present situation in the world economy.

Summary
This subject should complete the knowledge of the students in the field of
international economics. The subject matter of lectures of international
economics will be consisted of issues raised by the special problems of
economic interaction between sovereign states. Such themes recur throughout
our subject like the gains from trade, the pattern of trade, models of
international trade, the balance of payments, international factor movements,
exchange rate determination, international economic integration etc. Students
can expect to finish this course with a thorough understanding of major
theories and problems of international economics.

1. An introduction to international economics, what is international
economics about
2. History (evolution) of the world economy, structure of the world
economy
3. International economics and globalization, global problems of the
world economy
4. Tools of analysis for international trade models, the classical model
of international trade
5. The Heckscher – Ohlin theory, tests of trade models: the Leontief
paradox
6. The gains from free trade, tariffs, non tariff barriers and arguments
for protection
7. Trade policy – international trade and economic growth, international
factor movements
8. The balance of payments, basic theories of the balance of payments.
9. Money, exchange rates and open–economy macroeconomics, interest rates
and interest parity, recent exchange rate theories
10. Fixed and floating exchange rates, the international monetary system,
Gold Standard, Bretton Woods System, floating exchange rates
11. Organizations of international economic integration, international
organizations
12. European Union as the most developed organization of international
economic integration
