Subject syllabus:
1. The origin and development of the industrial society, industrial revolutions and consequences of discoveries for the society, the economy of the Czech lands and Slovakia in the Austria-Hungarian monarchy
2. Economic inheritance from the Habsburg monarchy
3. Stages and the main features of the Czechoslovak economic development in the twenties
4. Stages and the main features of the Czechoslovak economic development in the thirties
5. Industrial production, agriculture, domestic and foreign trade
6. Position of Czechoslovakia in the world economy
7. War controlled economy in the Czech lands and in Slovakia in the period of the Second World War, Germanization of the economy, the effects
8. Conditions and starting points for the first systemic transformation of the Czechoslovak economy in 1945-48
9. Development of plan-based management of the Czechoslovak economy in non-market conditions in 1949-55
10. The first attempt for a reform of the mechanism of socialistic economy working and its failure in 1957-62
11. The beginnings of the second economic reform and its violent suppression in 1963-69
12. Transfer from the second economic reform to the restoration of the previous model of central planning in the period of normalization (the seventies)
13. Attempts of the normalization leadership for a reform of the economic system in the eighties
14. A strategy of the second system transformation of the Czechoslovak economy after 1989, socially-market economy, its essence and outcomes in the nineties
