Cílem kurzu je seznámit studenty s prostředky a metodami persvaze a manipulace; vymezit obsah a rozsah pojmů persvaze a manipulace na případech typických (paradigmatech) i periferních, analyzovat problém etiky žurnalisty při prezentování informačního materiálu.

1. Persuasion and manipulation - a concept, history 2. A functional approach to persuasion; cognitive theory of persuasion. 3. Psychology of persuasion 4. The influence of ideology 5. Analysis of medial communiqué contents 6. Factors concerning the source of persuasion 7. Factors concerning the contents of communiqué and the way of its presentation 8. Factors concerning the addressee and the contents of persuasion process 9. Means of persuasion and manipulation 10. Persuasive power of the language in a journalistic communiqué 11. Persuasive power of non-verbal means in a journalistic communiqué 12. One-sidedness of verbal means and non-verbal means in news 13. Turning media into the gutter press 14. Defense against persuasion
