Cílem disciplíny je seznámit posluchače se základními lexikologickými termíny a prostřednictvím praktických ukázek s konkrétním stavem slovní zásoby v žurnalistických textech. Seminář chce zároveň ukázat na praktický dosah správné volby slov při stylizaci žurnalistických textů.

1. Vocabulary of the Czech language - its classification 2. Layers of words 3. Phraseology 4. Terminology 5. Development of vocabulary; Neologisms; Vogue words; Vulgarisms 6. Adaptation of loanwords 7. Anglicism (English turn of speech) 8. Use of synonymous means 9. Work with the Czech national corpus 10. Problems of social dialects, especially jargon 11. Jargon in journalism 12. Newspeak 13. Exhibition of students' work
