- To identify then problems that could be solved by statistical methods - To understand and describe the most efficient way of solving the problem - To obtain the knowledge how to do statistical survey i.e.how to collect the data – how to make random sample and how to arrange, classify and describe the data - To describe the information about random sample, calculate the basic desctiptive measures and to construct the graphs describing the distribution of the sample data - To understand the theoretical base of statistical methods the probability Theory, especially the noun of random variable - To distinguish and describe the basic types of random variable distributions - To understand and be able to use the basic methods of statistical inference - To use the knowlegde of sample mean and variance to formulate the test hypotheses about population mean and variance and make decisions - To undestand the principles and be able to find the point estimates and confidence intervals for the population mean and variance - To be able to make the decision using the previous knowledge and ability to solve the real problems

Předmět představuje vstupní kurs do problematiky pravděpodobnosti a statistiky. Poskytuje základy k dovednosti popisovat náhodné procesy v ekonomii pomocí náhodných proměnných a náhodných vektorů. Seznamuje se základy deskriptivní statistiky, statistické indukce, regresní analýzy, korelační analýzy pro statistická data jedno i vícerozměrná. Poskytuje návod jak provádět statistická šetření a na jejich základě vyslovovat závěry o celé populaci. Tyto postupy jsou základem mnoha technik používaných v ekonomice (rozhodování, plánování výroby, průzkum trhu, kontrola jakosti, prognostika, personální politika apod.).
