Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

You will know how: • to characterize and identify the particular branches of public sector, • to specify their institutional, legislative and documentation aspects, • to define the role of the public sector within the national economy. You will be able: • to evaluate the position of the particular branches within the whole public sector, • to identify the subjects participating on the provision of the public sector services, • to judge the micro and macro economical connections and rational operating of the selected branches and segments of the public sector. You will gain: • knowledge in the structure of particular branches of the public sector, • information on the possibilities of financing both from public and private resources, • integrated view of the economics of the private and public sector in the particular branches.

Summary

The contents of the course Economics of Public Sector is oriented towards the description of the economic categories from that field. It shows the characteristics of the each segment of public sector, its economics and organisation with the special attention on the allocation of public expenditures. It also describes microeconomic and macroeconomic connections, rational functions, management and international comparison of the selected segments of the public sector.

Public policy and theoretical bases of the public sector functioning, role and function of the central government, regional governments and municipalities within the economy of the Czech Republic, public sector definition in the national economy managed by the public administration, regulatory intervention into the economic life (institutional, economic) 2. Public spending as a source of financing of the public sector, structure of produced goods and services, and international standards of budget structure in the CR, species and functional breakdown of public expenditure, cost-benefit analysis of public projects, selection and evaluation of public projects 3. Public administration as organizer and a coordinator of public services, structure of public administration systems in the Czech Republic and the European Union 4. Economics; financing; legislation; management and international comparison in the Defense sector 5. Economics; finance; legislation; management and international comparison of the segments of security, civil, fire and law protection 6. Economics; finance; legislation; management and international comparison of the segments of education, research and development 7.
