Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to introduce the role and importance of financial markets. Students will learn to understand banking system's, money and capital market's principles and functioning. After passing the course, students should be able to know: -to understand central and commercial banking, -to distinguish particular banking products, -to compare financial intermediaries, -to master various types of securities, -to learn investment principles including collective investment, -to evaluate the situation at the Czech financial market and in global financial markets.

Summary

The aim of the course is to introduce the role and importance of financial markets. Students will learn to understand banking system's, money and capital market's principles and functioning. At the end of the course, students should be able to understand central and commercial banking, to distinguish particular banking products, to compare financial intermediaries, to master various types of securities, to learn investment principles including collective investment, to evaluate situation in the Czech financial market and in global financial markets.

Subject syllabus:

Financial system, financial markets. Banking system, its structure in ČR a EU. History of banking, new trends of development. Central bank , its main functions. Role of commercial banks, autoratization criteria, banking licence. Passive banking. Active banking. Bilance - neutral banking. System of payment, clearing - noncash payment system. Financial crisis and its influnce on the structure of banking system. Capital market instruments. Money market instruments. Analysis of stocks and bonds. Financial investment, types of invetment. Capital market subjects, stock exchanges, BCPP, RM-S, Central depository. IPO. Collective investment. Czech capital market, regulation of the Czech capital market. Global financial markets. Contemporary situation in the financial markets.
