Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

After passing this subject students will be able to identify and desribe functioning of commercial banks in concrete economy, distinguish the possition of central banks from the the possition of commercial banks, describe and explain fundamental bank operations and confront individual bank products and state their advanteges and disadvantages.

Within this subject, students get knowladges about the task and goals of commercial banks in particular bank-systems, bank operations, services and the conncetions with the economy stage.

Financial markets and institutions, the role of financial intermediaries 2. Banking system in the Czech Republic and the EU, development of banking 3. The history of central banking and the role of central banks today 4. Commercial banking industry and banking regulation 5. Banking products, interest rates, pricing of banking products 6. Liabilities operations (deposit on demand, time deposits, saving deposits, deposit bills), bank deposit products 7. Assets operations, types of loans 8. Collaterals 9. The payments systems, cash payment, cashless payment systems 10. Payment instruments (credit transfers, direct debits, checks, payment cards, bills of exchange) 11. Off-balance- sheet activities 12. E-banking 13. Savings banks (associations) and credit unions
