Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The overall aim of this course is to develop students basic understanding of the role and importance of the capital market in facilitating the allocation of funds from investors to business and government. To achieve this aim the course identifies several key objectives of students learning. In short, at the end of this course students should be able to:
1. Identify the role of the money market, securities market, forex market, debt and equities markets, public sector and private sector debt markets.
2.Describe the stock market automated trading and settlement systems
3. Discuss the role of fund managers and other professional investors, both domestically and internationally, in the allocation of funds
4.Calculate the value of simple debt and equity instruments
5. Identify the role of financial intermediaries

Summary
The aim of the course is to get students acquainted with the capital market
and its functions and principles. The course is divided into 2 main parts:
