The course focuses on achieving basic knowledge of ethics in a business environment. The aim of this course is to get students acquainted with the principals of the ethical behaviour especially in financial markets and prepare them for the problems they will face in real professional life.

Summary

The aim of this course is to get students acquainted with the principals of the ethical behaviour in a business environment. The students will be able to: - understand basic ethical standards in entrepreneurship, - recognize role of law and regulation in business and financial markets, - define the work of financial institutions from the ethical point of view, - grasp that business ethics is one of the most important aspects of long-term success.

1. Ethics and investing - Ethics as a central issue in financial services - Importance of knowledge of the law, rules and regulation - Role of regulation in corporate finance and financial markets - Plagiarism policy 2. Integrity of Financial Markets - Ethical use of information, information asymmetry - Trading on insider information - Investment banking and Chinese walls - Market manipulation 3. Ethics and Business - Concrete examples of unethical behaviour in corporations - Investing in companies with good corporate governance practices - Socially responsible investing 4. Duties to Clients and Employers - Loyalty, prudence, and care - Fair dealing and suitability - Ethical reporting of financial performance - Investment analysis, recommendations, and actions - Conflicts of interest - Communication with clients, priority of transactions and referral fees
