Outline principles of communication in computers networks. Describe properties of technologies used in LAN. Assess requierements for design of LAN. Set together simply LAN from HW and SW components.

Summary

The subject Computer Networks discuss the aspects of computer networks: LAN technologies, hardware and software of networks, Internet access. Reference models OSI and TCP/IP (and the protocols) are the basic of the philosophy of layered networks.

Computer networks - taxonomy, characteristics - topologies - architecture 4. Models - ISO/OSI - TCP/IP 5. HW LAN - cables - wireless technology - active network components 6. LAN technology - Ethernet - wireless networks - Token Ring etc. 7. Internet - routing - architecture 8. Administration and management of local networks - OS and NOS - directory services 9. LAN security
