Předmět je zaměřen na charakteristiku informačního prostředí, charakteristiku informačního procesu, strukturu informačních zdrojů, jejich vytváření, organizaci a využívání. Vytváří studentům přehledný pojmový aparát v oblasti informací, znalostí a odborné literatury.
