Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of business intelligence and information support of teamwork using the Microsoft Office 365 office suite. At the end of the course students should be able to obtain information from more data using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot or Power BI. At the same time, student should master the basics of managing a team of collaborators and sharing data in a team using OneDrive, Forms, Teams, Yammer, etc.

Subject syllabus:

1) Basic Excel tools for working with large amounts of data - sorting, filtering, data validation. 2) Computing over large amounts of data using defined names and matrix formulas. 3) Structured Excel tables as a basic object for creating data models in Excel. 4) Excel PivotTables as a basic data analysis tool. 5) Power Query as a basic tool for importing data from external sources and transforming data. 6) Power Pivot as a basic tool for data model management. 7) Introduction to Data Analysis Expressions (DAX). 8) Basic data visualization in Power BI. 9) Advanced calculations in Power BI using DAX. 10) OneDrive as a basic data sharing tool. 11) Teams tool as a customizable chatroom workspace. 12) Yammer as another tool for sharing knowledge in a team of collaborators. 13) Forms as a tool for marketing research.
