Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of the course is to understand and master process management including process modelling and simulation. The student will acquire basic skills in the analysis, simulation and optimization of business processes. In addition, the student will become practically familiar with application software that supports the modeling and simulation of business processes with the aim of their optimization.

Summary
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to understand and master process management including process modeling and simulation. Furthermore, to acquire basic skills in working with application software that supports modeling and simulation of processes in order to optimize them.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester
Credit:
- active participation in seminars, submission of materials for the project by the 5th week of instruction;
- project processing according to the required structure and its submission to LMS;
- get at least 23 out of 45 points.
Exam:
- defense of the project and oral questions in given areas;
- get at least 28 out of 55 points.

Students have at their disposal LMS Moodle presentations of individual lectures, case studies, assignments and data for exercises in LMS.
Other requirements
Active participation in seminars.
Elaboration of the project according to the required structure and its submission to LMS in the given term.

Subject syllabus:
1. Process and its basic characteristics, the importance of process improvement
2. The nature and importance of the process approach, functional versus process approach to organizational management.
3. Principles and techniques of process improvement.
4. Modelling of administrative and production processes, BPMN notation.
5. Monitoring, metrics and performance measurement and continuous process improvement.
6. Modern approaches to process performance evaluation.
7. Process team, functions, roles, process chain.
8. Organizational structures based on the process approach.
9. Introduction to modelling of real-time systems.
10. Application of the process approach and analysis in selected areas.
11. Requirements of ISO 9000 series standards in the area of process management.
12. Application of the process approach in selected areas.
Exercise content
Business process modelling in:
- VISIO environment using BPMN notation (static model);
- Attis environment (static model)
- Witness environment (dynamic simulation model)
