- to describe basic transformation steps

Summary
The course is focused on problems concerning the Czech economy and the economic policy of the Czech Republic. Course students are familiarized with the economic policy of central planned economies and the process of transformation with respect to privatization. Attention is paid to role of institutions in transformation process. This part is followed by lectures concerning fiscal, monetary policy and external economic policy and its evolution from 1993. Current issues of Czech economy are discussed in final units of the course. Emphasis is placed on public finance reform, healthcare reform, pension system reform.
