Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

- to clarify development of the European Union with emphasis to the labour markets - to compare the models of labour markets in the EU members - to identify differences between EU labour markets and other countries - to dramatise the transfer from the pasive to the active labour market policy and other changes in the structure of labour market

Lectures

Summary

The course provides detail knowledge on labour markets in European union and in selected EU countries, the evolution of labour market integration process in EU from the beginning of 90-ties and the contemporary development trends. Executive summary of the political and economic context of implementation of Employment Guidelines is involved. Deep comparisons of labour market models of EU countries and also with other developed countries are provided together with assessment of performances and policies per selected member states - impact evaluation of the European Employment Strategy.

Education (level, structure, duality) and employment in EU, position of youth on labour markets 5. Labour market performance gaps between European regions 6. Flexibility, quality and job protection in European Employment Strategy systems 7. Key determinants of effective functioning of labour market 8. European Employment Strategy – pillars and guidelines, EU labour market reforms 9. Employment Guidelines – main tasks and horizontal objectives 10. National action plans, Commission recommendations, Employment Taskforce and their implementation 11. Denmark - Impact evaluation of the European Employment Strategy 12. Ireland - Impact evaluation of the European Employment Strategy 13. UK - Impact evaluation of the European Employment Strategy 14. Spain - Impact evaluation of the European Employment Strategy
