Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The course focuses on key topics in immigration economics. We will study theory and empirical cases within the different immigration economics areas such as determinants of migration, consequnces of migration on sending and receiving countries, immigrant assimilation and integration, the role of immigration policy, ethnic diversity. the students will get a knowledge of migration theory and importantly empirical applications.

This course will deal with major research areas within the Economics of migration. We will go through: Migration trends; Determinants of migration; Selectivity in migration and immigrant performance; Immigrant assimilation and integration; The second generations; Impacts of migration; Immigration policy; Diversity of workforce - Impacts of diversity on firms and economies. We will go through and discuss major theories key empirical evidences within each of the research areas. In this way students will learn application of state-of-the art methodologies used in the empirical research within the Economics of Migration, and Labor Market Economics in general. The students will go deeply into particular topic when writing their written assignment.
