To understand the nature of the SII study branch and its link to related study branches; to understand the hierarchy of study branches (undergraduate, master, and doctoral ones) To identify the possibilities of practical placement of the graduates To absorb the systém, process and project approach in a problem solution.

The student should understand the nature of the SII study branch and its link to related study branches. She/he should also understand the hierarchy of study branches (undergraduate, master, and doctoral ones). Further, she/he should identify the possibilities of practical placement of the graduates and absorb the system approach in a problem solution.

1. System Engineering and informatics as a study programme. 2. System engineering as a scientific area. Developmental trends in system engineering. 3. System disciplines. 4. Basic terminology, approaches, and methodology. 5. System task solution process model. Life cycle of the system, problem solution cycle. 6. Problem analysis methods and techniques. 7. System engineering application in information technologies. 8. System tools application case study.
