Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

After completing this subject, students will be able to understand and apply the following skills and topic areas: - design and assessment of prestressed concrete elements and structures; - prestressed elements and structures of bridges, civil and industrial buildings.

Summary

Students are supposed to achieve basic knowledge in design of prestressed load bearing structures. Students get to know effect of prestressing on structures and technology of pre-tensioned and post-tensioned prestressed concrete. Students are acquainted with design of pre-stressing using different methods and with changes of prestressing. Students get knowledge about assessment of prestressed structure according to ultimate and serviceability limit state.
