Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge and skills in the area of reconstruction and rehabilitation of concrete constructions. Student has to obtain and prove an adequate general overview of solved problems. Student also has to work out the individual project related to the scope of the thesis.

Subject syllabus:

General scope of the course: Degradation and corrosion of steel reinforcement. Practical examples of critical points in several elements of concrete structures and their causes. Sources of defects and their diagnostic. Verification of changes of static scheme and load-bearing capacity of the structure. Materials for repairs and restoration of concrete structures. Static design of repair with resistance increase and ensured working life. Post-tensioning of reinforced concrete structures. Strengthening of the structure using addition of reinforcement or CRP reinforcement. Technology of repairs executing and labour protection. Fire resistance of repaired structures Individual project The topic and the form of an individual project will be chosen by the teacher considering the scope of the thesis.
