Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of this course is to develop the knowledge and skills in the area of design, reliability assessment and realization of foundation elements and constructions of bridges, engineering structures and industrial buildings. Student has to obtain and prove an adequate general overview of solved problems. Student also has to work out the individual project related to the scope of the thesis.
Teaching methods
Individual consultations
Summary
Interactive systems and soil models; solution of strip, grid and slab foundations and spatially acting box foundations of slabs and walls. The effect of subsoil cooperating with the stress-strain state of foundations, use of one-, two- and three-dimensional elements of the finite element method (FEM). Shallow and deep foundations in interaction with subsoil and the structure. Concrete floors and special foundations of engineering and underground structures. Prestressed foundation constructions and their use. Reliability, design and assessment of foundation structures considering ultimate and serviceability limit states according to ČSN and ČSN EN.

Subject syllabus:
General scope of the course:
Interactive systems and soil models; the effect on upper structure. The effect of subsoil cooperating with the stress-strain state of foundations, use of one-, two- and three-dimensional elements of the finite element method (FEM). Soil models, surface and three-dimensional soil models. Solution of strip and grid foundations, interaction of a strip and subsoil. Slab foundations and spatially acting box foundations of slabs and walls in interaction with ground conditions. Shallow and deep foundations in interaction with subsoil and the structure. Concrete floors and special foundations of engineering and underground structures. Soil improvement, strength and deformation characteristics, the effect on the state of stress. Prestressed foundation and floor constructions and their use. Reliability, design and assessment of foundation structures considering ultimate and serviceability limit states according to ČSN and ČSN EN.
