Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

After completing this subject, students will be able to understand and apply the following skills and topic areas: - the basic knowledge needed for design and assessment of members and joints in steel structures according to European standards; - dispositional and structural design of steel structures – general principles; - design and assessment of steel industrial buildings (mainly steel halls) - design and assessment of steel multi-storey buildings; - the basic knowledge needed for design and assessment of members and joints in timber structures according to European standards; - dispositional and structural design of timber structures – general principles; - design and assessment of typical timber structures and their members (beams, trusses, planar frames and arches, timber roofs, timber frame houses).
