Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The course familiarizes students with spatial information systems, especially GIS and analytical tasks to solve various problems in the area, focusing on spatial planning. The course will provide an introductory overview of the problems of spatial information systems with a focus on GIS. Attention is given to geodata, geofeatures and data models. It is also discussed the issue of digital terrain models, satellite navigation and positioning systems, photogrammetry and remote sensing. Analytical procedures and methods are focused on land use and spatial planning.

At least 70% attendance at the exercises. Absence, up to a maximum of 30%, must be excused and the apology must be accepted by the teacher (the teacher decides to recognize the reason for the excuse). Tasks assigned on the exercises must be hand in within the dates set by the teacher.

1. Information technologies, basic concepts, past and present, space 2. Determination of the position in space. 3. Time. Different concepts of time. Positioning in time. 4. GeoFeatures. Folder description of spatial objects. 5. Data Models. Data modeling. Data structures. 6. Raster data model. Vector data model. 7. Geodata acquisition, primary and derived geo-data, data quality, metadata 8. Global navigation satellite systems, digital elevation models, mobile geoinformation technologies 9. GIS in urban engineering 10. Territorial Plans 11 to 12 Applications and analytical processes 13 to 14 publishing and data presentation
