Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of the course is to introduce the development trend of EU economic policy is
special emphasis on structural and regional policy in the context of European
integration. The first part of the course focuses on the objectives, principles and
EU policy instruments in the current period, with an emphasis on competitiveness and
support innovation. The second part explains the principles of regional policy and
their instruments - the EU Structural Funds and their application by targets
Regional policy in the EU. Attention is paid to structural programs
assist in the Czech Republic and their use at sectoral and regional level.

Summary
To present the development trends of EU economic policies, their goals,
objectives and instruments with special focus to regional (cohesion) policy. To
explain the principles of Structural Funds and other instruments of the
regional policy and their application in the EU member states and to learn how
to use them in the framework of social and economic cohesion.

1st European integration. A brief historical overview and the main trends in the 21
century.
2nd EU institutions and policies.
Third of the Lisbon strategy for growth and its renewal after 2005 - focus on growth
and employment.
4th EU competitiveness and growth of its tools. The importance of innovation, science and
research for competitiveness.
Fifth structural and regional policy and economic, social and territorial
cohesion.
Use of the 6th EU Structural Funds in the period 2004-2006 and development programs in the country.
7th Structural Funds in 2007-2013 - the principles and objectives of the structural
policy and its importance for regional development-
8th Use of EU structural funds in the development of the Czech Republic 2007-2013.
