Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Non-destructive methods and methods for assessing materials as well as constructions will be presented as part of the non-destructive testing course. In particular, purely non-destructive methods (using acoustic waves, electromagnetic radiation, etc.), or semidestructive methods, which cause only insignificant damage to the material, will be described. Principle understanding of individual test procedures is the key to selecting a suitable method for determining the parameter to be found on the test material. Furthermore, the practical application of non-destructive methods for construction purposes will be monitored.

Summary
Non-destructive testing is part of material testing that provides objective information without significant damage of the structure. The methods are preferably used to evaluate material homogeneity, anomaly detection, defect and failure descriptions, physical and mechanical parameters, etc. These methods can be used both in vitro and in situ depending on the type of test. Their applications provide a large number of results compared to destructive tests, which often need to be processed using statistical and computational methods.
