Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

This subject is focused on basic information from physical chemistry of building materials, with base of microstructure of building elements, especially binder based materials, but also pottery. The subjech deals also to theory of fracture materials from point of view of microstructure.

Summary

Absolventi tohoto předmětu jsou seznámeni se základy fyzikální chemie stavebních látek, se základy mikrostruktury, zejména stavebních hmot na bázi pojiv, ale i keramiky. Probrány jsou i základy teorie porušení materiálů z hlediska mikrostruktury. - základní pojmy, rozdělení - vybrané kapitoly z chemie a fyzikální chemie - fázové přeměny a fázové diagramy, ternární diagramy - chemie vody a její důsledky pro stavební látky a jejich mikrostrukturu - kovové stavebních látky - silikáty, jejich struktura - mikrostruktura pojiv a kompozitů na jejich bázi (cement, sádra, vápno) - mezní stavy materiálů, lomová mechanika z hlediska mikrostruktury, únava - jílové minerály a jejich struktura, ztekucování jílů - stavební keramika a její mikrostruktura (zpevňovací procesy,...) - metody studia mikrostruktury (RDA, DTA, elektronová mikroskopie, ...)

The minimum attendance rate required is 70% or above. Absence of up to 30% must be excused and the apology must be accepted by the teacher. Requirements will be specified by the teacher at the beginning of the semester. Submission of assignments within the deadlines set by the teacher is required for credit obtaining.

Subject syllabus:

- basic terms, division - selected chapters from chemistry and physical chemistry - phase transformations and phase diagrams, ternary diagrams - water chemistry and its consequences for building materials and their microstructure - metallic building materials - silicates, their structure - microstructure of binders and composites based on them (cement, gypsum, lime) - limit states of materials, fracture mechanics in terms of microstructure, fatigue - clay minerals and their structure, clay liquefaction - building ceramics and its microstructure (reinforcement processes, ...) - methods of microstructure study (RDA, DTA, electron microscopy, ...)
