Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will learn about the possibilities of using these materials, their advantages and on the contrary properties and factors limiting their practical use. Also included are wood-based materials and products. Wood is a typical representative of renewable resources and its products are historically among the most frequently used building materials.

Summary

Předmět se zabývá zejména nekonvenčními materiály, které jsou využívány, případně mají potenciál k využití napříč celým stavebním průmyslem, od samotných surovin, přes alternativní pojiva, druhotné suroviny, nebo zejména rychleobnovitelné suroviny rostlinného či živočišného původu. Studenti se seznámí s možnostmi využití těchto materiálů, jejich výhodami a naopak vlastnostmi a činiteli omezujícími jejich praktické využití. Součástí předmětu jsou také materiály a výrobky na bázi dřeva. Dřevo je typickým zástupcem obnovitelných zdrojů a výrobky z něj patří historicky mezi nejčastěji využívané stavební materiály.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Students work out and present their semestral work. The study results are verified both in written and oral form.

Other requirements

The minimum attendance rate required is 70% or above. Absence of up to 30% must be excused and the apology must be accepted by the teacher. Requirements will be specified by the teacher at the beginning of the semester. Submission of assignments within the deadlines set by the teacher is required for credit obtaining.

Lectures: Introduction, definitions and terminology. Secondary raw materials. Fast-renewable raw materials. Current developments in the field of building materials. Legislation. Wood, wood products and waste. Cork. Stem materials. Insulating materials. Construction materials. Advantages and limitations of materials based on renewable raw materials. Composite materials. Degradation of materials from renewable raw materials. Testing methods.
