Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim is to introduce the basic properties of the building materials, their composition, structure, testing and evaluation of their possibilities and their practical applications. Students will be acquainted with inorganic building materials such as stone and aggregates, binders, concrete and mortar, ceramics and glass, but also with organic, primarily wood, bitumen and polymers.

Summary

Znalost vlastností a chování stavebních materiálů a výrobků patří mezi základní odborné dovednosti budoucích úspěšných architektů. Cílem předmětu je seznámit posluchače se základními vlastnostmi stavebních materiálů, jejich složením, strukturou, jejich zkoušením a hodnocením a možnostmi jejich praktických aplikací. Posluchači se seznámí zejména s anorganickými stavebními materiály, jako jsou kámen a kamenivo, pojiva, betony a malty, keramika či sklo, ale také s organickými, primárně s dřevem, asfalty a polymery.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Students work out and present their semestral work. The study results are verified both in written and oral form.

Other requirements

The minimum attendance rate required is 70% or above. Absence of up to 30% must be excused and the apology must be accepted by the teacher. Requirements will be specified by the teacher at the beginning of the semester. Submission of assignments within the deadlines set by the teacher is required for credit obtaining.
