Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the basic structure and content of underground construction, its ties to the disciplines of construction completed, the geotechnical and science character.Education will be conducted so that students understand the basic principles of construction of underground works, he could apply those principles into practice and has obtained sufficient experience for employees construction management in a complex natural environment by analyzing the knowledge of that environment.

Lectures: 1. The importance of underground construction, the history and development of underground structures, the division of underground structures. 2. Survey for Underground Construction - Requirements, Goals, Stages 3. Survey for underground constructions - subject of exploration (rock, massif), laboratory and field methods 4. Survey for underground constructions - survey methods, classification systems 5. Nomenclature and design elements 6. Technology of excavation of underground structures 7. Galleries and classical methods of tunneling 8. NRTM - theory and practice 9. Insulation of underground construction and ventilation 10. Modern methods of embossing - TBM, shields 11. Large-scale buildings - caverns 12. Organization and safety of work in underground construction. 13. Effects of tunneling on the surface. 14. Reserve for lectures Exercise: 1.-3. week: Laboratory methods of exploration. 4-5. Classification systems of underground structures 6. Geological survey 7. Methods of survey 8. Exploration galleries 9-10. Design elements (cross section of underground construction) 11-12. Tunnel interior and security 13-14. Load of underground structures - vault theory (Protodjakonov, Bierbaumer)

Mandatory attendence participation: At least 70% attendance at the exercises. Absence, up to a maximum of 30%, must be excused and the apology must be accepted by the teacher (the teacher decides to recognize the reason for the excuse). Tasks assigned on the exercises must be hand in within the dates set by the teacher.
