Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with general problems of tunnel construction in terms of the use of tunnels for traffic engineering: Special consideration is given to the issue of fire safety in road tunnels and to the management and organization of traffic in the tunnel. These issues will be student-oriented analysis and synthesis of knowledge of traffic engineering and application of knowledge.

Summary
The course synthesizes previous obtained knowledge of the rocks excavation, mined underground construction, supporting and other disciplines. Apart from issues of basic design parameters
underground construction (size, shape) deals mainly with issues of excavation of the
tunnels, their supporting, ventilation and maintenance. Other part of the course
devoted to the design and operation of security measures, protection against fire and
relating to driving in tunnels.
