Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The course deals with practical examples of measurements that are commonly used in the construction of linear structures. The vast majority of the content is devoted to practical measurements. The aim of this course is to disseminate information and practical skills in the areas of soil properties, the method of determining the basic characteristics of the soil subgrade roads.

Summary
Learning outcomes of the course unit the subject deals with problems of water regime in subsoil, effects of freezing. Another area of interest is the stability of embankments and ditches, the possibility of mathematical modeling of this stability issue and the principles and methods of geotechnical monitoring in road construction.
