Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Subject matter is structured into various topics with the aim to acquaint students with the protection of nature and modern methods used in this field. When studying individual problems and specific protected areas, the emphasis is on system access and interaction of the components of landscape sphere. U monuments, emphasis is placed on the relationship between monuments and the surrounding landscape and survey methods monuments. Output knowledge, skills and competencies: After completing the course the student should demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts, understanding of basic processes and problems in the protection of nature and cultural heritage, including the role of the historical development of a legislative framework for protection of nature and heritage, so that the student was able to contemplate this issues in context. Students should be able to suggest methods for studying natural and cultural heritage.

Summary
Historical development of a legislative framework for the protection of nature in the world and in the Czech Republic. Basic concepts in nature conservation. The principles of conservation, the relationship of the individual components of the landscape, biogeographic differentiation of the landscape. Category specially protected areas of the Czech Republic - their legal and administrative security. European Ecological Network (EECONET). Supra-regional territorial system of ecological stability. Biosphere Reserve and Ramsar Convention. Characteristics of the four national parks and 24 protected areas in the Czech Republic (basic data, geology, climate, hydrology, geomorphology, botanical and zoological problems, development of landscape main anthropogenic influences). Nature and landscape protection in foreign countries and globally. Landscape character and legal framework for its protection. Methodology and protection of cultural heritage research.

5th KRNAP (geology, climate, hydrology, geomorphology, ecosystems, protected small areas etc.).
6. National park Šumava (geology, climate, hydrology, gemorfologie, ecosystems, protected small areas etc.).
7. National park Podyjí (geology, climate, hydrology, gemorfologie, ecosystems, protected small areas etc.), Czech Switzerland.
8. Characteristics of all PLA CR.
9. Protection of nature and landscape in the Slovak Republic.
10. Protection of nature and landscape in Austria.
