Summary
Course contents are the basic principles of geotechnical monitoring, basic principles of monitoring systems and a basic overview of methods and instrumentation, which can be used for monitoring stresses in the rock environment, in reinforcement, load of the reinforcement, deformations, settlements, water pressures, water flow, seismic activity, radon (dynamometers, inclinometers, convergometers, extenzometers, piezometers, settlements sensors, water flow indicators, etc.). Within the course, the students are also acquainted with the design of monitoring for various types of underground structures, slopes and embankments and with the possibilities of processing the resulting monitored data, including the possible inverse analysis.
