Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The course focuses on the evaluation findings of the seismic load of buildings in the Czech Republic. For the assessment of seismic loads earthquakes is used Eurocode EN 1998, to assess the technical vibration load is used standard CSN 73 0040th The goal is to be able to determine the seismic load objects.

Summary

Seismic loading of the constructions includes a significant area of seismic engineering. The course introduces the basic concepts and knowledge in this field. Basic interpretation of seismic events and evaluation of data in time and frequency domains, both velocity and acceleration records are presented. To evaluate the seismic loading of structures by earthquakes in the Czech Republic, Eurokód 8 is used. To evaluate the seismic loading by technical vibration, it is used the Czech Technical Standard ČSN 73 0040.

Compulsory literature:

Eurocode 8: Design of structures for earthquake resistance
