Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to lecture to students modern geophysical methods used for geotechnical and engineering-geological applications. Selection of geophysical survey methodology (set of applicable methods for given problem) and interpretation of measured geophysical data for the GT and the IG topics are main knowledge. Students also obtain information about determination of the seismic loading of constructions.

Teaching methods

Individual consultations

Summary

The lecture includes information about individual methods of engineering geophysics, which includes gravimetric, seismic, thermal, magnetometric, geoelectrical, radionuclide and partly also the well logging methods. Special attention is paid to petrophysics (physical and geotechnical parameters of the soil and rock). Emphasis is placed on the interpretation of geophysical data for the engineering-geological and geotechnical problems and selection of the optimal methods of geophysical methods set. Part of the subject is also brief information on the assessment of seismic loading of structures.
